Abstract

This bachelor΄s thesis deals with the issue of nickel based superalloys and their resistance to environmental conditions – specially to hydrogen environment. The theoretical part discusses basic facts of nickel based superalloys – it describes their properties, general classification, possibilities of applications and of course microstructure and chemical composition. The influence of hydrogen on superalloys and brief summary of mechanisms of hydrogen embrittlement are mentioned hier too. The experimental part focused on analyzing nickel based superalloy IN738 LC structure. Testing specimens were submitted to hot isostatic pressing and half of them were hydrogenated moreover. The aim of the experiment was to describe possibility changes in microstructure of hydrogenated sample. Microstructural analyses were performed using light microscope and scanning electron microscope.
