Abstract

The subject of the thesis is to clarify the issue of shale gas in the world and in the Czech Republic. The first part explains what shale gas is, accords its physical and chemical properties and types of deposits gas creates. It also explains the methods, problems and risks associated with the extraction of unconventional natural gas that is extracted by method called hydraulic fracturing. In the fourth chapter, attention is given to the extraction of natural gas in Europe and in the world. The fifth chapter discusses the possibilities of mining in the Czech Republic. It also contains a list of promising locations in Czech Republic where the shale gas could be found. In conclusion, there are solutions to economic issues associated with mining and calculations of reserves. The result is to create a complex view on the issue.
