Abstract
The Bachelor thesis deals with subsoil drainage using vertical drains, which is one of many forms of ground improvement. The work defines conditions, when we can use this method and how much it will affect the whole process of consolidation, which is directly linked
to the installation of vertical drains. The thesis describes two basic types of vertical drains (sand drains and PVD). The second type is described in more detail – function, selection, installation and quality control tests. The work also presents some projects from Czech Republic or various countries, where vertical drains have been used. The practical part of the thesis is concerned with the process of manufacturing own vertical drain on 3D printer and creating illustrative educational model in the subsoil.
