Abstract

The use of synthetic fibers is relatively new way for soil reinforcing. Information about this issue can be obtained mainly from foreign sources with using this key words: „random reinforcement“ and „fibre reinforcement“. Improving soils with unstable properties is in the mixed of short fibers of 10 – 100mm length. As the result is expected to increase shear strength and the overall increase of bearing capacity of the newly formed composite material. This thesis represent the progress and results of research performed in geotechnical laboratory of Geotechnics and underground buildings department in Faculty of civil engineering VŠB – TU Ostrava. For testing was used the soil and PET fibers of lenght 70 mm given by Ing. Rubanišarová Ph.D.
