Abstract

This thesis focuses on the analysis of the soil seed bank at two selected dumps in Ostrava – dumps Odra and Oderka. In 2017, in accordance with methodology, 17 soil samples were taken in dump Odra and 15 samples in dump Oderka. The slope and the exposure were subsequently determined on each individual sample area. Utilizing the extraction method, seeds were separated, counted and identified from these samples. 3436 seeds belonging to 32 plant species were identified in dump Odra and 5701 seeds of 25 plant species were identified in dump Oderka. Seeds of Betula pendula were dominant in number and frequency of occurence. For the comparison of soil seed bank and above-ground vegetation, 14 phytosociological relevés were taken in dump Odra and 7 relevés in dump Oderka. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index and eveness was calculated and evaluated for each relevé. The vegetation of individual relevés was classified on phytosociological association level. There were four different phytosociological associations found. A minimum match was found between soil seed bank and above-ground vegetation. To demonstrate the influence of slope and exposure to the distribution of plant species in soil seed bank, multi-criteria analysis were used. By applying detrended and redundancy analysis to soil seed bank, the slope and exposure have been found to have a significant effect on the occurrence of species in the soil seed bank in selected dumps. The impact of other environmental variables that were not investigated in this thesis was also evident.
