Abstract

This thesis characterizes basic principles of business interruption insurance from the risk management point of view. This work deals with causes and factors, which influence the extent of loss and the time of business interruption caused by fire. Determination of direct and indirect losses from the point of view of HZS ČR are compared with approaches of selected insurance companies. Principles and procedures used in major insurance companies for evaluation of fire risk and the risk of business interruption caused by fire are analyzed in this thesis. An important part of this work is a new methodology for risk assessment of business interruption caused by fire proposed by the author. This methodology is applied on a model example and proposed for use in risk management of Česká pojištovna a.s.
