Abstract

This bachelor thesis evaluates the incidence and acquisition of virtual currencies all over the world, with a focus on Bitcoin. The first part of work defines the concept of money and their main functions in the economical aparatus. Then it characterizes the development of virtual currencies to the inception of Bitcoin itself. The work highlights economic and monetary aspects of virtual currency, but also on the principle of obtaining Bitcoin and possibilities of their usage in the everyday world economy. There are also defined advantages and disadvantages that result from the usage of this virtual currency. The final part discusses the possibility of usage the Bitcoin faces in the U.S., Germany and the Czech Republic for the occurrence of exchanges, ATMs and merchants accepting Bitcoin payments. We also need to take under adwisement the limitation of this virtual currency in China and Japan. In this work was used comparative and historical methods.
