Abstract

This bachelor thesis is focused on practical realization of an application for transforming data from source systems and loading them into prepared structures of a data warehouse. In order to explain required theory fundamentals an infrastructure of business intelligence is described as well as two main approaches for building a data warehouse, which are integrated and dimensional approach, and method of extracting, transforming and loading data (ETL). In practical part of the thesis a functional model of a data warehouse is designed using the dimensional approach and in order to load and transform data from source systems properly an ETL application is being created. Application is runnable in specialized tool and provides full initial loading of the data warehouse and is as well ready for future incremental loading.
