Abstract
This work deals with the chemical degradation and contamination of a reinforced concrete shaft of monolithic buildings of industrial chimneys. In the theoretical part of the work and historical development of chimneys building is analysed in accordance to a used material and technology of building. Constructional components used during a construction or the operation itself is mentioned as well. Marginally mechanical, physical and chemical options of a concrete degradation are described, particular diagnostic methods are delineated at the same time. The experimental part of the work occupies with the monolithic industrial chimney of 150 metres height in the paper mill Mondi in the Štětí city. Firstly accessible drawings and a technical documentation from a chimney construction and previous reports of periodical inspections of this object were studied. Subsequently an area inspection of and outer and inner surface including reinforced concrete clerestory was performed. On the basis of the findings a technical description of the object and a description of damages discovered during a visual inspection was made. In a second phase a sampling of a core drilling for subsequent examinations was executed. In the Laboratory of Building Materials FAST, VŠB-TUO, selected physical-mechanical and chemical qualities of a reinforced concrete shank were determined. In the end results of performed laboratory examinations and an overall evaluation of ascertained findings are stated.
