Abstract

The thesis is based on a study of the possibility of removing unwanted Cr (VI) from samples of contaminated wastewater from the electroplating surface treatment of metals using chemically modified fruiting bodies Fomitopsis pinicola. Basis of this work is to study the sorption kinetics, sorption equilibrium and factors affecting the biosorption process on the selected biosorbents. Part of this work is a description of how mechanical and chemical treatment of the biological material conditions determining the sorption equilibrium sorption capacity calculations and modeling of adsorption isotherms. Outcome of the thesis is to evaluate the possibility of using the real biosorbents for cleaning of industrial wastewater and suggestions for further research on this issue.
