Abstract

This work addresses the concept of contact of VŠB-TUO in Ostrava – Poruba with intrinsic urban organism. Currently, these two structures are separated and a tendency leads to the further increase of separating. This work brings a different perspective on the issues such as campus involvement in urban life, where there is a mutual penetration and enriches each other. Quite a radical solution calculated with the alignment of the existing terrain elevation, witch height-separates the schools terrace form the 17th November Street. This will provide double-decker edge, which also form the other side of 17th November street on the university side and allow her commercial and other uses. The expected decrease traffic due to construction of the Rudná extension calms the street and creates conditions for a nice avenue. At the same time it is also designed several buildings – new Rectorate and two multifunctional school buildings on the border with the avenue that will allow public contact with the students. There are the shops in the lower floors, higher there are a classrooms, laboratory, living are for the students and at the end office spaces and housing for the teachers, which are completely absent. Also there will be underground parking with the continuity to the current buildings. The construction of building is designed as reinforced concrete frame with hidden beams. From the ideological point of view, rising up pillar of understanding being that gives a solid Framework and order of life, while they lead the way to knowledge and enlightenment.
