Abstract

The theme of this thesis is a proposal of a new Museum of modern art, located on the Rohanské nábřeží in Karlín district in Prague. The designated site is situated inside of a modern residential development along the waterfront and has a close connection to the Vltava river and related Rohanský island on the north side. The aim was to create a characteristic building that could serve as a local cultural centre and home for experimental art forms. The design itself is founded upon a high-quality functional concept, the basis of which are exhibition areas, administrative and technical facilities and other functions resulting from a detailed analysis of the designated area. Thesis includes urban design of the adjacent public space and parking.
