Abstract
This bachelor thesis focuses on the utilization of solar energy as one of the renewable energy sources. It analyzes the principles of photovoltaic cells, types of solar technologies, and structural components of photovoltaic power plants. Furthermore, it evaluates their advantages and disadvantages, technological development, and the possibilities of application in the Czech Republic and worldwide. Another part is dedicated to photothermal technologies and the comparison of photovoltaic and solar-thermal systems in terms of efficiency, cost, and climatic suitability. The aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state and prospects of solar energy as an alternative to conventional energy sources.
