Dokumentace sedimentů v západní části lomu Kotouč u Štramberka

Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on the documentation of sediment in the western part of Kotouč quarry near Štramberk. The aim of the thesis is to carry out sampling in the field, describe the collected samples and perform subsequent laboratory analyses in order to interpret their origin. Samples are collected from the 8th and 9th quarry levels. These samples are subsequently described macroscopically and subjectes to X – ray diffraction and palynofacies analysis. The results indicate that the sediments consist mainly of claystones and marlstones with variable mineralogical composition. Palynological analysis allows the stratigraphic assignment of the samples to the Lower Cretaceous. Based the obtained data, depositional coditions are interpreted as a distal shelf environment with vabiable oxygen conditions. According to dinoflagellate assemblages, the sediments are assigned to the Lower Aptian.
