Abstract

The content of this thesis is a proposal for improving inventory management in the mechanical engineering company. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the current state of inventory management in a particular enterprise, to select a suitable group of inventories for further analysis, to identify the most important items and to propose methods of inventory management of individual items, their groups, and stocks in general. Sheet metal, as an essential input material for production, was selected as the group of items suitable for further analysis. In this thesis, differentiation of items is made using the ABC method based on average stock, using the XYZ method based on average historical consumption and using the ABC method based on average work-in-process stock. Finally, recommendations for inventory management of the identified groups and the most important individual items are given.
