Abstract

Bachelor’s thesis focuses on the development of an add-in for Microsoft Outlook that simplifies task management and its integration with the calendar and emails. Native task management in Outlook requires frequent switching between panes and lacks certain advanced features for efficient work organization. The proposed add-in addresses this issue by unifying task management in one place and enhancing it with advanced filtering, more flexible task recurrence, category editing directly within the task interface, and time blocking for tasks. It also enables the quick creation of tasks from emails, subtask management, and statistics visualization, contributing to better clarity and more effective planning. The implementation utilized Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO), Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), and the OxyPlot library. The thesis covers the analysis of technologies, describes relevant parts of the Outlook Object Model, specifies requirements, and presents the design and implementation of the add-in itself. The resulting Outlook add-in provides a unified and intuitive environment for managing tasks, without the need to switch to other tools.
