Abstract

This Bachelor’s thesis focuses on comparing two options associated with the extraction of lithium, not just for the Teplice district and the Ústecký Region, but also in terms of economic benefit to the Czech Republic as a whole. In the introduction I focus on individual investors and the permits granted for mining the lode of tin. The next section focuses on extracting lithium, both in the Czech Republic and elsewhere in the world, including the impact of such extraction on the environment. The thesis closes by elaborating on the current situation on the territory of the Czech Republic and calculating the options for what might result from a decision to either mine the tin lode or not. I attempt to answer the question of whether the Czech Republic would be able to subsequently process the lithium mined, including adapting it for end-products in the form of components for lithium batteries.
