Využití moderních zobrazovacích technologií bezpilotních letadel v geovědním turismu

Abstract

This study examines the use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imagery for documenting and interpreting geological sites in the context of geotourism. The aim is to assess the value of UAV imagery for visualising spatial relationships, geomorphological structures, and landscape contexts, and to verify its applicability in the geotourism presentation of the area. The model site is the Ema spoil heap in Slezská Ostrava, a significant anthropogenic landform created in connection with underground black coal mining. UAV imagery provided visual outputs documenting the morphology of the spoil heap, surface structure, access roads, and the site’s relationship to the surrounding post-industrial landscape of the Ostrava region. These outputs were analysed for their interpretive value and subsequently used to propose the addition of visual and digital elements to the existing visitor route. The results indicate that UAV technology is an effective tool for supporting geotourism interpretation, particularly in explaining spatial relationships and conveying scientifically significant yet difficult-to-access or hazardous areas of sites. The use of UAVs bridges the gap between specialised geoscience content and its accessible presentation to the public, and expands the possibilities for interpreting post-industrial landscapes within the context of geoscience tourism. This bachelor’s thesis examines the use of modern imaging technologies involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the field of geotourism. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the potential of these technologies and propose their practical application at the Ema spoil heap site in Ostrava.
