Abstract

The diploma thesis focuses on the issue of turning using an abrasive water jet. It describes in more detail the influence of several process parameters on the amount of material removed. The possibility of turning other than cylindrical specimen shapes is also investigated. The experiments are designed, so that it is possible to best map the course of the machining process itself and determine its significant variables. New quantities are introduced in the work to facilitate the understanding of the process. The pros and cons of the method and reflections on the creation of an analytical model are evaluated.
