Využití fondů EU ve městě Valašské Meziříčí v oblasti životního prostředí

Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the use of EU funds to finance projects of the town of Valašské Meziříčí in the field of environment. The aim is to evaluate realised projects and then to suggest other areas of focus and types of projects to realization in the near future. The theoretical part deals with possibilities of drawing EU funds in programming periods 2004 - 2006 and 2007 - 2013, when the Czech Republic participates in EU Regional policy. The EU's stance on environmental issues is also approached. In the practical part, there is an analysis of the town of Valašské Meziříčí and a description of strategic urban development planning. Thereafter are presented selected projects of the town and there is an assessment of their contribution. According to the results of this thesis, the town of Valašské Meziříčí was relatively successful in drawing EU funds but it has to work to eliminate its weaknesses as for example high traffic intensity - one of the main factor of air pollution in the town. There are suggested other projects aimed at improving the environment of the town of Valašské Meziříčí with the possibility of drawing EU funds in the end of this thesis.
