Abstract

The theoretical part of this thesis summarizes basic knowledge about cast iron with nodular graphite and effects, which most often affect quality of castings. Among these factors belong raw materials used for melting furnace batch, temperature of liquid metal, the design of model device and last but not least the type of inoculant and technology, by which the melt is inoculated. In experimental part of this thesis the analysis of the 51298160101000 casting is performed. This casting has exhibited a high reject rate for a long time period, which is accompanied by worse profitability of production. Suggested and performed changes ensured about 50 % reduction of the reject rate and in the end of the thesis another modifications for microstructure optimization and a reduction of casting´s hardness were recommended.
