Abstract

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to design an optimal approach for the hot rolling of round bars from an initial squares cross section of a continuously cast product on a roughing reversible two-high rolling mill of a laboratory semi-continuous rolling mill. In the theoretical part, a research is focused on the characteristics of the continuous casting devices and rolling mills, also on the structure this way made semi-products and the forming influence on the structure and mechanical properties. Further, the practical part is aimed at the description of the laboratory semi-continuous rolling mill, a design an optimal rolling plan, the process of rolling and the microstructure analysis. There is a discussion of the results in the final section, which contains a summary of the obtained values, including the rationale of the changes in the tests in an effort to achieve an optimal approach for the hot rolling.
