Abstract

The aim of this thesis was to optimize conditions for production of specific high-chrome melt with medium content of carbon and with low content of titanium, which is used as the molten alloying ingredient in the production of special steels. In the theoretical part was outlined the issue of calculations of thermodynamic activities in high-chromium alloy melts. Further, the analysis of a literary knowledge about the composition of slag and slag management system during the production of stainless steel was done. In the experimental part, the thermodynamic equilibrium conditions of Ti and TiO2 in slag under conditions of production high-chromium melt on the electric arc furnace were verified. The emphasis was placed on a suitable slag regime and the possibility of reduction of TiO2 in the ladle slag. The results of performed experiments were analyzed using mathematical and statistical methods. Results and recommendations are listed at the conclusion of this work.
