Abstract

The master’s thesis deals with the issue of Generation Y and their expectations in working environment. Each generation differs in characteristics. Those are given by their date of birth and important events. As Generation Y enters the labour market and the various generations meet, the need arises to understand their expectations, values and needs. The aim of the master’s thesis is to evaluate work related expectations of Generation Y representatives in a concrete company and to make suggestions in various areas. The theoretical part is devoted to generations’ theories and to characteristics of living generations with the focus on Generation Y. The practical part of the thesis introduces a concrete company and assesses data obtained in a questionnaire. Based on the results suggestions are made in concrete areas which can be of benefit during adaptation and stabilization of young workers – representatives of Generation Y.
