Abstract
This diploma thesis focuses on evaluating the influence of the chemical composition of synthetic slags on the efficiency of steel desulfurization during secondary metallurgy. The experimental part is focused on the analysis of operational data from 68 heats, including chemical analyses of slags and steels sampled at different stages of production. Various types of synthetic slags, including one containing calcium fluoride, were compared on the basis of calculated desulfurization efficiency and sulfur partition coefficients. FactSage 8.3 software was used to assess the influence of slag composition on their behaviour at high temperatures. Using the Viscosity and Phase Diagram modules, the dynamic viscosity was calculated and phase diagrams of the CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-MgO system were constructed based on the average chemical composition of the individual slags.
