Abstract

This thesis deals with the assessment of butterflies occurence on the Upper Silesian Spoil Mine Heaps, namely the Czech part of Upper Silesia. The first part describes The natural conditions of the Ostrava basin. Followed by a chapter about the butterflies of the Ostrava basin, which also deals with methods of botanical and lepidopterical survey. Followed by a chapter about the diversity of butterflies, which also includes the calculation of the index of diversity and ecology description of the butterfly species occurring in selected locations. Another part can be regarded as practical, where are described the research areas, fytocenological pictures and the results are statistically evaluated. According to the results was found, that at the locations were most frequently the European Peacock (Inachis io), Green-veined white (Pieris napi) and White butterfly (Pieris rapae).
