Abstract
This work describes various types of energy storage technologies in the field of energy and their principles of operation. The individual chapters focus on an overview of storage technologies, an assessment of the benefits of individual types of storage, and the legislative framework in the Czech Republic and the European Union. The theoretical part includes an analysis of the benefits of energy
storage for industrial and residential applications, including the design of an optimization tool for peak shaving and a correlation analysis of spot electricity prices with solar radiation based on real data from 2025. The practical part addresses the design and implementation of a system for intelligent control
of thermal storage based on spot electricity prices using an ESP32 microcontroller. The system autonomously retrieves hourly prices from OTE, schedules heating during the cheapest hours, and adaptively adjusts operation based on current temperature. The work also includes project documentation of the proposed solution.
