Abstract
Covered conductors with PAS system are used for the increasing of an electric network
reliability and safety. This system was used since 1976 in Finland and was used from reliability aspect
in the Europe including Czech Republic too.
The main disadvantage of this system is disability of detection fault, for example fall of
conductor to the earth, contact of conductor with branches of tree and so on. For these types of faults,
the earth fault is not detected by relay protections, because insulation of this conductor intercepted
earth current flow by point of a fault.
The problems of covered conductor running are solved within this thesis. The analysis of
covered conductor running for variety of climatic conditions and some fault and running states was
realized at first. Some real measurements in the laboratory conditions and simulations were realized
for this purpose. The detection system was designed for detection covered conductors faults after
detailed research in the laboratory condition and this system was verified by real experiments in the
real medium voltage system.
