Abstract

The diploma thesis is focused on the description and characteristics of the most commonly used steels in the automotive industry. The thesis also discusses the influence of hydrogen on the embrittlement of commercially produced TRIP 780 steel of type C-Mn-Si by using the SSRT method. This method consists in deformation of the sample at a slow rate. A series of samples in the longitudinal and transverse directions relative to the rolling direction were supplied, part of which was subjected to electrolytic hydrogen charging for 4 hours in 0.1N H2SO4 solution with the addition of 1 g of KSCN. Non-hydrogenated samples exhibited the predicted mechanical properties reported by the supplier. Hydrogen samples exhibited a relatively large embrittlement. Subsequently, residual austenite was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. At the end, fracture analysis was performed using a scanning electron microscope.
