Zhodnocení vývoje a dávek nemocenského pojištění v krajích České republiky

Abstract

The thesis is dedicated to an analysis of factors influencing the total expenditures on benefits of sickness insurance the regions of the Czech Republic in the years 2009 to 2020. In the literature review, potential factors influencing the above mentioned dependent variable are outlined based on scientific articles and publications. The average gross monthly wage, the general unemployment rate and the average number of sickness insured persons are considered independent variables in the thesis. The regression analysis then verifies the selected influencing variables and, as a result, the potential dependence or independence of the dependent variable is determined. In the practical part of the thesis is also, based on a comparison over time, verified whether the pandemic crisis, which shocked the Czech economy at the beginning of 2020, affected the amount of total expenditures on benefits of sickness insurance. The results of the analysis revealed a clear dependence of the above-mentioned dependent variable on the average gross monthly wage. When examining the dependence of total expenditure on benefits of sickness insurance on the general unemployment rate, this dependence was expected, as expected, in 13 of the 14 regions monitored. The Karlovy Vary region was an exception in which the general unemployment rate did not affect the amount of total expenditures. The last variable to analyze whether total expenditure on benefits of sickness insurance depended on it was the average number of sickness insured persons. This analysis has not turned out as clearly as, for example, the analysis of dependence on the average gross monthly wage.
