Abstract
This bachelor is about the effect of modifying of titanium oxide by rare metals on photocatalytic reduction of CO2. The main purpose of photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide is its conversion into less harmful and better useful substances.
Photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide in aqueos sodium hydroxide solution was performed in stirred batch annular reactor with suspended catalysts (TiO2, Pt/TiO2, Pd/TiO2, Au/TiO2 and commercial TiO2 – Degussa P25). Solutions were fed with carbon dioxide and irradiated 8W Hg lamp placed in the center of the reactor.
Photoreduction products in the gaseous phase were methane and hydrogen. In the liquid phase any products weren´t detected. Effect of modifying on photocatalytic reduction CO2 was monitored at intervals 0-24 hours.
Based on experimentals results we can say, that in addition to doped Pt catalyst, catalysts showed higher activity during photoreduction of CO2 higher (TiO2) or comparable (Au/ TiO2, Pd/ TiO2) with commercial catalyst (Degussa P-25). Activity of doped catalysts decreased in the order Au/TiO2 <Pd/TiO2<Pt/TiO2.
