Abstract

Dissertation thesis addresses issues related to the selection of a suitable ground mobile firefighting equipment to deploy it to fight the forest fires in mountain conditions in Slovakia, based on its technical and operational parameters as well as natural conditions of the intervention territory. In addition, it also deals with the determination of effective tactical procedures to fight the forest fires and to ensure the water supply water to the fire site, using the results of dynamic modeling of forest fire development in FARSITE environment. One of the key results of the dissertation thesis is the creation of optimization model for the selection of suitable fire equipment for extinguishing forest fires based on predefined criteria. Another key area is the area of dynamic modeling of fire development in FARSITE environment, the results of which were, together with the results of an optimized selection of a suitable fire equipment for the field conditions of specific area, used for the analysis and determination of effective procedures for fighting the forest fires, based on an example of a fire that occurred in Vysna Boca in November 2011. From the results achieved, it is clear that knowledge of the environment, parameters of fire equipment deployed and subsequent determination of effective procedures for fighting the forest fires in the analyzed area can significantly help to reduce the damage to the environment, what also has an impact on the volume of preserved values that is observed in all fire-fighting interventions, in the natural environment, it especially considers the price of habitats of European and national importance .
