Abstract

The presented bachelor thesis deals with the issue of the influence of video games on the behaviour of their players. More specifically, it focuses on violent video games that depict guns and require active player involvement in shooting situations. The thesis first provides a general introduction to the subject matter, including the historical development and current status of the game industry. It then looks in more detail at specifically shooting violent video games, outlining their distinctive elements and mentioning some of the most famous game titles of the time. The next section details the dominant factors of these games that could potentially influence players. The thesis also includes a summary and analysis of the most important studies dealing with this issue. In the practical part of the thesis, the questionnaire survey cunducted is elaborated and discussed along with its outcomes and suggestions.
