Bc. ŠABATKOVÁ, Barbora. Unstable embankment stabilization on the railway line “Karlovy Vary hl.n. – Karlovy Vary – Dvory“, v km 186,400 – 187,100. Ostrava: VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Geotechnics and Underground Construction, 2022. 97 pages. This thesis deals with the remediation of an unstable embankment on the railway line in Karlovy Vary at km 186,400-187,100. The main goal of the thesis is to find a suitable stabilization measure for an unstable embankment using numerical modeling. The first part of the thesis deals with the characteristics of the locality, the engineering geological and hydrogeological conditions of the locality, the issue of embankment, construction and monitoring. In the second part of the diploma thesis, the appropriate remedial measure of an unstable embankment and the subsequent modeling using numerical modeling in Plaxis 2D software, using the finite element method, are discussed. The footage shows the results of numerical modeling, comparison of remedial measures and evaluation of the best solution.
