Abstract
The EC's intention is economic sustainability of projects. The Czech Republic does not follow the total amount of loss of individual types of transport, so we do not know a propor-tion of each project, so we cannot achieve relevance in the economic sustainability of pro-jects. Today, we do not know the total amount of subsidies to individual types of transport. We do not know what kind of transport is more financially effective.
The aim of the dissertation is the economic comparison of the average annual road and rail transport expenditure, converted to transport performances. It also assesses profitability (ROI) Sample projects PPPD4 and VRT Prague - Brno, complements unpublished PPPD4 data (IRR, FV, annual instalments). The annual instalment and discount rate was determined by the iteration between basic CF and NPV. The dissertation also analysis the economic situ-ation and in synergy proposes the possibilities of development of transport routes in the Czech Republic and the EU.
Road passenger transport is 11 times more financially advantageous than rail passenger transport and at the same time road freight transport is 3 times more financially advantageous than rail freight
Transport. Projects PPPD4, nor VRT Praha-Brno are not profitable and do not achieve the return on investment. The calculations performed revealed the value of the PPPD4 dis-count rate 5.35 % and the annual instalments that the Czech Republic pays for PPPD4. If the PPPD4 was an commercial project, toll prices would have to be 2.5 times more expensive than toll prices in Spain in order to compensate for the expenses.
The trend of 50 -year GDP growth shows that 6 EU country's economies in this dec-ade will show negative GDP growth and 7 other countries will grow at a rate of less than 1 %. Most EU countries achieve a lower growth rate every decade than the previous one.
