Abstract

My bachelor thesis deals with arbitration procedure- its rules, laws that are related to it and also practical issues. In the first chapter, I analyze the theory of this issue, who can act as an arbitrator, what are the procedural rules and what is expected of the parties. The second chapter deals with a fictional case with which I aspire to follow the procedural steps in the arbitration. In the third chapter, I compare the arbitration proceedings, judicial proceedings and mediation. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the arbitration procedure - its usefulness and effectiveness - and the comparison to judicial proceedings. I describe the main differences, advantages and disadvantages of each procedure. Furthermore I would like to compare arbitration with mediation as an alternative to other non-judicial proceedings.
