Abstract

My present diplom work describes the overview, current status and possibility for using of systems fixed fire extinguishing equipment. In first part of my work I described what the giant opencast machines are and their equipment, including flammable substances. Subsequently, I described the legislation and antifire requirements for the giant opencast machines, fire resistance of giant opencast machines and fire hazards during fire activities. In another section I described the existing fires of giant opencast machines and material for fire protection. The next section describes fire safety devices and the types of fire-fighting systems. At the end of my work I deal with bases of evaluation systems and their suitability of the large-scale installations, including the recommendations of the most suitable system from the technical and economical perspective.
