Abstract

The content of this bachelor thesis is to introduce the possibilities of using LED technologies related to public lighting, to point out their effectivity and practicality in comparison with convetional luminairies. The theoretical part of this work approximates its basic light-technical concepts that are key for the selection of appropriate luminairies. Then it describes the normative requirements placed on public lighting. The set of norms describes the parameters that need to be abided for the resulting quality of chosen luminairies or light sources themselves. The next chapter of this work focuses on LED luminairies and their usage in public lighting. Last but not least are depicted their benefits in comparison with the current NAV luminairies. The conclusion of the theoretical part covers the possibilities of controlling the public lighting. The practical section focuses on the polygon in the VŠB-TU grounds in Ostrava, which uses the „SmartLight“ technology and points to the future of public lighting using smart lighting control. In addition, the practical part compares two LED luminairies together with the original NAV lamp. The conclusion of this work summarizes the results and affirms the advantages of modern LED technologies.
