Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis addresses the issue of protecting critical infrastructure of the electricity transmission system against threats posed by Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). The thesis analyzes the legal framework of critical infrastructure protection in the Czech Republic and the European Union, describes the function, structure, and key components of the electricity transmission system, and identifies the main physical, cyber, and hybrid threats.
The second part of the thesis focuses on the technical and operational aspects of UAS, including their classification, technological architecture, and specific categories such as FPV drones. A key part of the thesis is a risk analysis of the use of UAS against elements of energy infrastructure using the CARVER+SHOCK method, which evaluates the attractiveness and vulnerability of individual targets from the attacker’s perspective.
Based on the results of the analysis, a C-UAS protection project is proposed, targeting the most critical elements of the electricity transmission system. The thesis provides a comprehensive view of current threats and defensive options and contributes to strengthening the security of energy infrastructure.
