Kapacitní a výkonové ukazatele vybraných nemocnic v České republice

Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on evaluating the capacity and performance of 12 selected hospitals in three regions of the Czech Republic. The main goal is to assess the technical efficiency of these hospitals using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. To achieve this, an input-oriented model was used, comparing data from the years 2020 to 2024. The number of hospital beds was used as the input parameter, while the volume of healthcare services provided represented the outputs. The analysis used models with both constant (CRS) and variable (VRS) returns to scale. The results show that the average efficiency of the analyzed hospitals slightly increased over time. The Hospital in Frýdek-Místek (p.o.) achieved the most stable results. The analysis also reflects the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused fluctuations in performance. It was found that for more than 77 % of the units, inefficiency was caused by incorrectly set capacity size rather than poor management.
