Rekonstrukce - Komunitní centrum Ostrava-Kunčičky

Abstract

Goal of my bachelor thesis was to design a reconstruction and an extension of industrial building in compaund of former mine Alexander, which is located in the Silesian city of Ostrava in Ostrava Kunčičky. The aim was to create an object which by its nature will contribute to the strengthening of relations between inhabitants and create a space for rest and leisure, thus improving the conditions in this area. It can help to reduce crime, to suspend displacement of population or to stop public space destruction. The intention was to design an object that emphasizes the character of the local construction and does not disturb the landscape of the surrounding area.

Particularly I focused on maintaining the authenticity of the building, while respecting its proportions. Therefore I avoided to exaggerated demolition. The first part is devoted to the study of architectural structures, the second part deals with building construction and the third part is dedicated to the problematic structural details of the object.
