Abstract

Nowadays, energy savings and accompanying reduction of greenhouse gases, mainly CO2, are the worldwide trend. One of the possibilities of energy savings is the ladle metallurgy. This thesis is concerned with application of new insulating layer into the ladle lining at ArcelorMittal Ostrava a.s. steel plant and its subsequent benefits. It is one of the ways leading to the optimization of the ladle thermomechanical process by utilization of steel heat which is accumulated in the ladle lining with the aim of reduction of energy and environmental intensity of steel production process. For the purpose of verification of the new type of ladle insulation were conducted four operation tests. Their evaluation including accounting of energy savings and subsequent carbon dioxide emissions reduction is the constituent of my thesis.
