Abstract
The submitted diploma thesis deals with the study of ecotoxicity of aqueous extracts of various types of slags on the semichronic bioassay Lemna minor L.
The tested organism for 3 and 7 days has been exposed to aqueous leachates of four slags samples, namely ladle, furnace and two blast furnace granular slags with a grain size less than 10 mm, respectively. The main parameter found in the lesser duckweed (Lemna minor L.) was inhibition or stimulation of growth after three and seven days of exposure for individual aqueous leachates of slags samples. IC50 values and subsequently the toxicity unit TU were calculated, which have been classified the aqueous leachates according to the toxicity class.
In the experiments, solid slag samples were characterized by XRFS analysis, and the carbon and sulfur content of these samples was also determined. The aqueous leachates of individual slag samples were subjected to chemical analysis and the obtained results were subsequently compared with the limit values of the parameters according to the valid decree. The aqueous leachates of all slag samples were classified into leachability classes.
