Zkoumání důležitosti obálek knih v Young Adult literatuře

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis examines the influence of book covers on the decision-making processes of young readers in the Young Adult (YA) literature category. The aim of the thesis is to analyse in detail the entire cover design process, including the collaboration between authors, graphic designers, marketers and publishers, and to investigate how cover design influences the ultimate success of a publication. The focus is on how a book cover communicates content and theme, which can significantly influence readers' purchasing decisions. The theoretical part focuses on the book as a product, examining its life cycle from design to sale and analysing the production structures and distribution of the reading audience in the Czech book market. The practical part of the thesis uses individual in-depth interviews with key figures in the publishing industry to provide a comprehensive view of the cover design process. The results of these interviews serve as the basis for suggestions and recommendations to improve cover design and marketing strategies, with the aim of enhancing book sales and better targeting the interests of young readers in the YA literature segment.
