Abstract

The text describes the road tax in the Czech republic. It examines also development of the road tax since 1993. The Czech road tax is confronted with the tax in Slovakia, in Poland and in Netherlands. The biggest difference compared to the Czech republic is the fact that the other countries resign the competence of making decisions about the amount of taxes to regions of that particular country. The text is also talking about the road-toll in the Czech republic and then it is compared to Germany, Austria and Slovakia. Germany has an advantage in monitoring the road-toll with the help of satellite signal. The transporters with a weight of a vehicle above 3,5 tonnes would get a discount. They would have to pay twice otherwise - the road-tax and the road-toll. The more kilometers a transporter drives, the better discount he gets.
