Abstract

The diploma thesis discusses the use of an electronic signature in practice. It provides legislative background in the Czech Republic and EU as well as basic information about cryptography and applicability of electronic signatures. The work gives a general overview of certification authorities in the Czech Republic and provides detailed statistics about services rendered. The practical part of the work lists basic state administration portals and describes how an electronic signature could be acquired, installed and used in certain applications. A survey was also performed within the research. The objective of the survey was to identify how the electronic signatures are widespread and used by businesses, how e-government aplications are used and whether the users are satisfied.
