Abstract

On the safety of road traffic are posed permanently increasing requirements nowadays. One of many parts of vehicles which has a large share on the safety are brake systems. Modern vehicles are equipped with brake systems which use newly developed friction materials. These friction materials ensure very good braking properties in extreme traffic conditions too. In this bachelor thesis are described main procedures for testing of friction materials on the brake dynamometer and the comparision of friction efficiencies of commonly used braking pads. For the experimental part of bachelor thesis were chosen two sets of friction pads on which were performed friction wear tests on brake dynamometer. The specimens of brake pads, commonly available on the world market, had a different material composition. From many used testing standards was chosen the standard SAE J2522 for the testing. This standard prescribes the testing steps for find out of material's efficiency. During the testing was performed the comparison of two specimens of friction pads. As result of this bachelor thesis is juxtaposition friction properties of materials both brake pads.
