Abstract

Comercially pure titanium has a dominant position among bio-materials and is experiencing a rapid development in recent years due to its application in dental implants. Materials processed by methods of severe plastic deformation (SPD) are characteristic for their ultrafine-grained structure and excelent mechanical properties. The ultrafine-grained CP titanium has higher strength and yield strength than coarse-grained titanium. In the thesis, the evolution of the microstructure of the CP titanium during ECAP is studied in order to examine an effect the grain refinement on increasing mechanical properties. Due to excellent corrosion resistence of titanium also stability in various liquids is investigated.
