Abstract

My work is dedicated to a small south Moravian town—Velehrad. Velehrad is a major pilgrimage place in the Czech Republic famous for the presence of Saint Cyril and Methodius in the 9th century as well as Moravia's first Cistercian cloister. The most popular sight among tourists in Velehrad is undoubtedly the Basilica of Assumption of Virgin Mary and Saint Cyril and Methodius. This work entitled "Infrastructure and tourism development of Velehrad" evaluates the current state of the town tourism and presents options of improving the infrastructure. The major data source were results of a poll that I emailed to people of various age groups. The poll contained questions about the satisfaction with tourist services offered in Velehrad. The work's main goal was to present a concept of a new tourist information center, also methodology describing neccessary steps of building a successful tourist center was created. Eventually I performed a short SWOT analysis—its results show which aspects of tourism in Velehrad work properly and which do not.
