Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of development of Moravian Silesian Region using the Structural Funds of the EU. The goal of a theoretical part is to acquaint the reader with the functioning of structural policy, the Structural Funds and their history, with the conditions for obtaining grants from the EU and with the classification of territorial units for statistics. The practical part is focused on the description of using European funds in Moravian Silesian Region and describes the area of development in the Moravian Silesian Region, especially the area of human resources. Journalistic section contains an editorial which is based on the theme of the thesis, interview with the director of Waldorf High School in Ostrava, opinion poll with people of the most important cities of this region and editorial. The result of this bachelor thesis is especially description of the development of the Moravian Silesian Region.
